A shoot from practicing in the Uni photography studios, using the strong studio light and the combination of the soft box, as the background. This was just a practice shoot and as my tutor told me it looked a bit ‘Cheesy’ due to the unnatural pose of the model. After looking again at the photos I took I agree and think more work in the studios in required in the future. I’m currently searching for a decently priced Canon 60d as an upgrade to my current DSLR so as soon as I get it I will no doubt then be streaming out photos, as it will hopefully give me a bit more inspiration and ill be able to experiment more. 

Purple Tanfield Flowers

A follow on from the subject of Modroc experimentation - this was a photo i created for my summer project before I started University, the brief was ”Traces”. I decided to go in the opposite direction to the typical idea of people’s footprints/paths/garbage etc, so created this mask and to portray the personality/character which are trying desperately to be seen through the mask and eventually it bursts out after building up for so long. This was relevant to anxiety and dread in which students suffer, especially before meeting new people at the start of university. I used a very strong yet small light and placed it bellow the mask, whilst in a completely darkened room and to create the smoke I blew out a candle I’d lit underneath the mouth, couldn’t believe how good it looked when I first captured it.
